On December 4, at the invitation of Privy Councilor Kasem Watanachai, Ambassador Lyu Jian led the working team of the Chinese Embassy to carry out special research on poverty alleviation in Nakhon Pathom and Suphan Buri Provinces in central Thailand. Ambassador Lyu met with the governor of Nakhon Pathom Province, Mr.Channa leamsang and the governor of Suphan Buri Province,Mr.Nimit Wanchaitanawong, respectively, and had in-depth exchanges with local people from political, business, education, research and other sectors. Ambassador Lyu made field trips to local poverty alleviation pilot projects.

During the exchanges with the Thai side, Ambassador Lyu said that not long ago, the 4th Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China adopt a decision to adhere to and improve the socialist system with Chinese characteristics, promote the modernization of the national governance system and governance capacity, and put forward relevant objectives and tasks, including poverty alleviation. The Chinese government has persisted in implementing the targeted poverty alleviation concept put forward by President Xi Jinping. Over the past 6 years, more than 80 million people have been lifted out of poverty, and absolute poverty will be eliminated in China in 2020. To solve the problem of poverty is a common development task faced with China and Thailand. China is willing to share with Thailand the concept and experience of poverty alleviation and development, promote the connection of enterprises and institutions of both countries, enhance the added value of agricultural products, give full play to the unique advantages of universities in targeted poverty alleviation, and help the grassroots people of Thailand getting rid of poverty as soon as possible. It is believed that under the guidance of the concept of "moderate economy" proposed by the Late King Rama IX and the comprehensive improvement of people's living standards of HM the King Rama X, Thailand will make steady progress on the road in line with its own national conditions.

Ambassador Lyu had a discussion with the teachers and students of the designated poverty alleviation University of the two provinces - Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University to learn about the targeted poverty alleviation situation of the University, and visited local poor families and poverty alleviation projects such as grapefruit planting and processing, artificial mushroom cultivation, and etc. The university authorities thanked Ambassador Lyu for the preliminary results of the poverty alleviation pilot projects achieved by learning from China's poverty alleviation experience.

Privy Councilor Kasem introduced in detail his many visits to China for poverty alleviation. He highly agreed with President Xi Jinping’s important idea of "seeking truth from facts, adaptation to local conditions, oversight by classification and targeted poverty alleviation". He highly praised the great achievements made in the 70 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and indicated that the Thai side is willing to learn from China's development experience in poverty alleviation, education, science and technology in an all-round way, continuously deepen cooperation in poverty alleviation, modern agriculture, education and other fields between both countries, and strive to help more grassroots people of Thailand to get rid of poverty and become rich as soon as possible.
